Reach for the Stars Event a HUGE Success!

Our "Reach for the Stars Scholarship Fundraiser" was a HUGE success.  We raised just over $8000 during the course of the event for our two scholarship recipients.  Special thanks goes out to all of our partners, sponsors, and contributors.  We couldn't have pulled this off without your help.  Our success is your success!

Here's a slideshow of images from the event:

Thanks to Boone at GabrielBoone Photography. As always, he took some awesome pictures of the event.

Also, don't forget December's networking event is our 3rd annual Holiday Toy Drive to benefit Fruit Valley Elementary School.  Details can be found here.

Announcing the 1st Annual Reach for the Stars Scholarship Fundraiser

The Young Professionals of Vancouver are excited to host the first annual Reach for the Stars scholarship fundraiser with proceeds going to deserving participants in the SW Washington Workforce Development Council’s 2008 youth program. Our aim is to alleviate the financial burden of paying for post-secondary education for two deserving students.

In order to do so, we need to raise a minimum of $10,000 at this black tie event.

The Reach for the Stars dinner and silent auction will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 with a cocktail hour starting at 6pm at the Downtown Vancouver Hilton. Please help us spread the word.

Tickets are $50 a seat and may be purchased online using our secure paypal link below.
Dinner tickets are no longer available for purchase.

Additionally, we need your support through sponsorship. We are actively seeking table sponsors ($500 a table) and donated items and/or services for the silent auction.  If your company would like to sponsor a table, please contact Tina Vlachos at (360)241-3721.

As young professionals and future business leaders of Southwest Washington, our organization is committed to continued growth and development of the Vancouver workforce. We hope you’ll join us in this endeavor to provide much needed educational and career development opportunities for those in our community.

Welcome Young Professionals of Vancouver

This is the official blog of The Young Professionals of Vancouver (USA).

The Young Professionals of Vancouver was established in 2006 to provide a place where young professionals can connect with other young professionals.

  • There will be no sales pitches and no boring seminars.
  • This will be a time to meet other young professionals that are interested in meeting new people and furthering their careers.
  • Young Professionals of Vancouver meets every month at a local hot spot.
  • Our meeting schedule is: First Wednesdays at 5:30pm.
  • There are over 610 people in the YPOV distribution list and we generally see 60 - 70 people at each event.
How old is young? We don't really care, but if you are active and passionate about business then you should swing by for a drink or two!

There is no membership fee of any sort. This is just social.

There is no structured format for these events. Come as you are and enjoy.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@ypov.org

YPOV's December 2008 Meeting Location:

Wednesday, December 3rd 2008
5:30pm - 7:30pm
Don't forget this is YPOV's 3rd Annual Toy Drive to benefit Fruit Valley Elementary School:

We ask that people attending bring a small toy, or basic need item to donate to the "Santa Store" at Fruit Valley.

Fruit Valley has over 200 children, with 84% eligible for free and reduced lunch. They have a ''Santa Store'' for parents to come visit, where they put out any donations that come in so the most-in-need parents can discretely come by and ''shop" (for free) for an item or two for their little ones. It means a lot to them when they have enough donations to do that. Let's make sure they do again this year!

Here's a list of generally needed items: Books, Hats and mittens, Coats, Games, Personal hygiene things that food stamps can't purchase: toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo, fun soaps/shower gel, laundry detergent and of course TOYS!

As you can see, some of these are just basic needs things, but will absolutely mean the world to kids and their families.

See you there!
